Frieze’s own event pages currently list the fair from 19 to 22 November 2026. The former Abu Dhabi Art website lists public dates of 20 to 22 November. This may indicate that 19 November will function as a preview day, but Frieze has not yet released the detailed visitor timetable. Travellers should currently reserve 19 to 22 November and confirm the final public opening hours once ticketing begins.
What is Frieze Abu Dhabi?
Frieze Abu Dhabi is a new international art fair created through a partnership between Frieze and the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi. It will replace the annual Abu Dhabi Art fair from 2026 while retaining its connection to Abu Dhabi’s existing cultural ecosystem.
Frieze began in 1991 with the launch of frieze magazine. Frieze London followed in 2003, with further fairs and platforms later established in New York, Los Angeles, Seoul and other international art-market centres. The organisation now operates art fairs, publications, digital platforms and permanent gallery initiatives such as No.9 Cork Street in London and Frieze House Seoul.
The Abu Dhabi edition will combine that international reach with the relationships developed by Abu Dhabi Art over 17 editions.
The Art Newspaper reported when the partnership was announced that Dyala Nusseibeh, the director of Abu Dhabi Art, would remain in charge of the fair. This continuity is important because Frieze Abu Dhabi must connect with established collectors and galleries while introducing a more internationally recognisable identity.
Is Frieze Abu Dhabi replacing Abu Dhabi Art?
Yes. The final edition under the name Abu Dhabi Art took place in 2025. From 2026, the annual fair will continue as Frieze Abu Dhabi.
Abu Dhabi Art was launched in 2009 at Emirates Palace with 42 galleries. It later moved to Manarat Al Saadiyat and grew to 142 galleries for its final edition in 2025. Alongside its commercial gallery presentations, the fair developed year-round exhibitions, installations, talks, artist commissions and educational activities.
The change should therefore be understood as an evolution rather than the closure of one fair followed by an unrelated launch.
Frieze gains access to an established regional fair, experienced local leadership, an existing collector community and one of the Gulf’s most developed museum districts. Abu Dhabi gains the international visibility, media platform and global gallery network associated with the Frieze name.
The central question will be how effectively the new fair balances global expansion with the regional credibility that Abu Dhabi Art spent nearly two decades building.
Where will Frieze Abu Dhabi 2026 take place?
Frieze Abu Dhabi 2026 will be held at Manarat Al Saadiyat, a cultural and exhibition centre in the Saadiyat Cultural District.
Manarat Al Saadiyat has hosted Abu Dhabi Art since 2011. The venue contains approximately 15,400 square metres of space, including museum-standard exhibition galleries, an auditorium, an events space, an art studio, a photography studio, outdoor areas and hospitality facilities.
Its location is strategically significant. Rather than placing Frieze Abu Dhabi inside a conventional trade-fair complex, the organisers are positioning it inside Abu Dhabi’s expanding cultural district.

2. Global Futures
Global Futures will present solo projects by early to mid-career artists whose work connects with cultural production in the UAE and across West Asia.
Solo presentations can provide a clearer introduction to an artist than mixed booths containing works by multiple names. The section should therefore become an important area for curators, museums and collectors looking for artists who have not yet reached the highest level of international market visibility.

3. Frieze Masters Abu Dhabi
One of the most distinctive features of the new fair will be Frieze Masters Abu Dhabi.
The section will present objects and artefacts from West Asia, covering periods from Antiquity to the early 20th century. Its purpose is to examine the long histories and cultural legacies that have influenced artistic production across the region.
This is an important development. Abu Dhabi Art traditionally concentrated on modern and contemporary art. Frieze Masters Abu Dhabi creates space for antiquities, historical material and cross-period collecting within the same event.
It also reflects the model of Frieze Masters in London, which places historical art and objects in conversation with the contemporary art market. The London fair covers thousands of years of art history, from antiquities and Old Masters to the late 20th century.
The guest curator for Frieze Masters Abu Dhabi has not yet been announced.

How to get to Manarat Al Saadiyat
Manarat Al Saadiyat is accessible by taxi, ride-hailing services, private car and public bus.
The venue has two visitor entrances, including an entrance adjacent to its parking area. Public bus routes currently serving the surrounding area include 120, 121, 125, 127, 170 and 187.
For international visitors, a taxi or ride-hailing service will normally be the simplest option during a busy fair week.
Official visitor information for the Saadiyat Cultural District describes the island as approximately ten minutes from downtown Abu Dhabi and around twenty minutes from Zayed International Airport, depending on traffic.
Manarat Al Saadiyat normally operates from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm, but these are the venue’s standard opening hours. Frieze Abu Dhabi will publish its own fair schedule, which may include later evening openings and restricted preview periods.
