Earth As You’ve Never Seen It Before. A globally unique photography exhibition concept which has drawn more than 20.000 visitors so far.
“View From Above” takes you on a powerful visual journey through space. Terry Virts, former commander of the International Space Station and NASA astronaut, captured over 300,000 photos during his missions. This exhibition features the most breathtaking of them – from glowing cities at night to vast untouched landscapes, seen from an altitude only a handful of humans have experienced.
Visitors enter a darkened space, immersed in large-scale photography accompanied by ambient sounds from space – radio signals, mission chatter, and the hum of the ISS. Through the scan.art audio guide, Terry Virts personally narrates stories behind the images. The exhibition design simulates the feeling of floating in orbit while looking down on Earth.
The exhibition premiered in Graz, Austria, inside a historic department store turned gallery. Following its success, “View From Above” is now expanding across Europe using a modular setup for temporary spaces in city centers. Each location is adapted to local audiences, with interactive formats for schools, companies, and science communities.
